Acappella Singers

Auditioned specialized choir.  Reading music is required and expected.  Prior experience in middle school and/or high school singing or equivalent is very helpful.  This group sings without accompaniment with voices only.  All vocal types, Soprano, Mezzo Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Baritone and Bass are needed.  Meets one day/week after school and during one Academy time per week.  Sings throughout the community regularly, especially during the holiday season.  Performs a wide variety of music including classical, modern classical, vocal jazz, vocal acappella (Pentatonix), and popular music.  Regularly needs a vocal beatbox, usually done by a current singer rather than a specialist.  This is the most advanced vocal group at THS, in terms of musical difficulty, and prepares students to have the ability to perform in collegiate level ensembles.

High Definition Show Choir

Similar to the music styles that you would see on the TV Show "Glee" - generally Pop and Musical Theater music. Open to all who enjoy singing and dancing.  Singers/Dancers go through an audition process,  and all Genders and Vocal Types are needed and wanted.   Competition Group that sings throughout the community at various events and performs on the National Show Choir Competition Circuit (usually 4-5 competitions, including Cedar Point).  Also involves instrumentalists, reading music is highly recommended, to perform live accompaniment for the show choir.  The Pit Orchestra travels and performs in all competitions and events.  There are also Crew positions that involve traveling with the Choir and being involved in all aspects of the competition show set-up and tear-down, as well as any technical needs throughout the show.  The crew is highly involved during the competition season but does not necessarily have the same after-school commitments as the Singer/Dancers and Pit Orchestra. Involves after-school commitments and fund-raising projects for our many financial needs.  The show choir regularly requires a group of around 35 -75 student members to fulfill all of the needs, so there is plenty of need and opportunity within the group.
