2025 Reading and Writing Festival - April 30, 2025
Sponsored by the Six District Educational Compact, the
Reading and Writing Festival takes place at Kent State University every year for 7th and 8th grade students from local schools. Students will get to meet the guest author and participate in sessions involving book cover art, drama, poetry, and various writing contests, all pertaining to the Festival Books. Students also have the opportunity to meet and interact with professional storyteller and author
Kevin Cordi, who leads a storytelling workshop session during the Festival. See bottom of page for contact info and Festival details.
Our guest author this year is
Scott Reintgen.
Scott Reintgen is a New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author of science fiction and fantasy books. He wrote the Nyxia trilogy, A Door in the Dark, and The Problem with Prophecies. His upcoming books are A Whisper in the Walls (4/4/24) and The Last Dragon of Mars (9/1/24)
He began his career as an English and Creative Writing teacher in North Carolina. He strongly believes that every student who steps into the classroom deserves to see themselves, vibrant and victorious and on the page. It’s his hope to encourage a future full of diverse writers. You can find him working in coffee shops, speaking in schools around the country, or teaching writing courses online.
He currently lives in North Carolina with his wife Katie, and their three wild children.
