Student Experience Update July 2021
What a difference a year makes. Last year, Tallmadge City Schools were READY TOGETHER. We were ready for whatever roadblocks the pandemic threw our way, and we handled them like champs. But now, we are preparing to come back as a unified school community. We cannot wait to welcome students back on our school buses, back to extra-curriculars, back to in-person learning and back to being kids. We cannot wait to welcome our community back to support our students on the athletic fields, in the arts and in their academic success. This new start allows a new opportunity to be TALLMADGE TOGETHER.
We start this school year by welcoming new members to Tallmadge. After an extensive search, Adam Booth was recently hired as the new principal of Tallmadge Elementary School. He brings more than 20 years of education experience to the district, with 16 years as a middle and high school math teacher and four years in administration at the middle and elementary levels. A lifelong NE Ohio resident, Mr. Booth and his wife and four boys will be a welcome addition to the Tallmadge family.
Bill Johnson will lead our athletes on and off the field as the new athletic director for Tallmadge City Schools. While new to this position, he is no stranger to our schools. Serving as an intervention specialist at Tallmadge High School, Mr. Johnson has demonstrated strong leadership skills in the classroom and on the basketball court, where he has coached middle school and high school teams for Tallmadge since 2010. We look forward to his new contributions to the Tallmadge community.
In addition to Mr. Booth and Mr. Johnson, Tallmadge will welcome eight new staff members.
As we prepare to welcome students back to campus, we ask that families fill out the school bus sign-ups so we can create the most efficient routes for students. There is also still time to take advantage of the summer meals program. Families in the district with children between the ages of 1-18 are welcome to register here for weekly breakfast and lunch pickups.
Finally, we want to thank the facilities crew who are working diligently this summer to have our buildings in tip-top shape when we open our doors to students on August 16.
Enjoy these weeks of summer with your friends and family, and we look forward to seeing the smiling faces of all our students, faculty, staff and community members in August!
