TALLMADGE HIGH SCHOOL RANKED AS A US BEST

TALLMADGE, OH – (April 30, 2021) – Tallmadge High School has earned the prestigious U.S. News & World Report Best High School award for ranking in the top 15% of about 18,000 schools nationwide and nearly 700 in Ohio. Tallmadge ranked #2,277 in the U.S. and #71 in all of Ohio.

“This ranking is an honor and is due to the dedication and perseverance of so many within our district including teachers, staff, students, and families,” said Tallmadge Superintendent Steve Wood. “We are committed to continuing to improve our performance and creating opportunities for our students to succeed.”

U.S. News releases their famed Best High School rankings every year, with schools vying for the recognition as a way of grading their own performance. The rankings are produced in conjunction with RTI International, a global research firm, which means U.S. News does not collect information directly from schools. Instead, the publication receives data from the College Board and International Baccalaureate, state assessment data, and the U.S. Department of Education Common Core of Data.

Schools are ranked on factors such as college readiness, college curriculum breadth, math & reading proficiency, math & reading performance and graduation rate. Tallmadge High School’s 97% student graduation rates the school above the state average.

“We want to be a district that provides a safe and healthy environment for our students,” Wood added. “When we’re able to do that, we see children have success. We want to prepare them for the future they choose, and ranking in the top-10% of the state in ‘College Readiness’ is just one indicator that demonstrates we’re accomplishing that. We’re proud of the work of our educators and staff in earning our district some national recognition.”
